Cyrus has been in featured in the Michelin Guide with two stars for seven years. In 2009, Keane was honored with the James Beard “Best Chef – Pacific” award. Since closing up his four-star Cyrus, Douglas Keane has wanted to keep busy in between running his Healdsburg Bar & Grill, competing on the fifth season of Bravo Top Chef Masters, and helping support the most-worthy non-profit organization, Green Dog Rescue Project in Windsor. His net worth is an estimated $5.2 Million.
In 2013 A new Las Vegas style Casino is opening up in Rohnert Park California. Graton Resort and Casino an $800 million, 320,000 square foot project will bring a jackpot for diners as much as for poker players. Keane will be headlining the marketplace, with a new joint named DK Wings, offering gourmet chicken wings, fried chicken and a pickle bar featuring Sonoma Brinery pickles plus Keane’s own fermented recipes. But everything the top chef contestant touches isn’t always gold. In 2011 he opened a restaurant called Shimo Modern Steak which he closed in just 6 months after poor business. It wasn’t the food because of course his skills are up to par it was the overwhelmingly high prices. Of the seven steaks, the cheapest cut was $23. His wife recievied hate mail about the prices even before Douglas Keane opened the joint. The restaurant had empty seats that were never filled. In an interview with Healdsburg Times he admitted he screwed up.
“I misread the market. I assumed people would recognize the quality and be okay with a $50 cut of meat, but I was way off base. Maybe that would have flown five years ago, but it’s just not realistic in today’s economy.”
